A little old Hollywood glamour, Violets In May style… Our Carmen dress has been given a glamorous new makeover, taking inspiration from the unforgettable pink gown worn by Marilyn Monroe during the Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend number in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.
Made from beautiful silk dupion, ”Marilyn” has a wonderfully structured silhouette with that distinctive natural slub and subtle sheen that makes silk dupion so special. The fitted bodice flows into a classic pencil skirt, finished with a matching waist belt for that unmistakable 1950s hourglass shape.
The real fun, however, is in the detachable sash.
The sash can be worn draped around the dress for a dramatic asymmetrical finish, removed completely for a cleaner cocktail-dress look, or manipulated and secured around the belt to create an oversized bow inspired by Marilyn’s iconic styling. One dress, several completely different ways to wear it.
And yes, pockets!

Marilyn is available in a selection of gorgeous solid silk dupion colours: Marilyn Pink, Red, Black, Gold and Green
The pink is, of course, the choice for anyone wanting the full Marilyn-inspired effect, while the other shades give the design an entirely different personality; from dramatic black to jewel-like green or classic Hollywood red.
A proper entrance-making dress, whether you wear her with the full dramatic sash and bow or keep things beautifully simple.
